What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a technique used by our podiatrists here at Narellan Foot Clinic to alleviate pain caused from certain trigger points in your feet. These trigger points are found in certain muscles and are quite often painful when direct pressure is applied. Trigger points can develop gradually over time or after an acute injury such as an ankle sprain. Elise has years of experience with dry needling and is passionate about your foot health.

How is dry needling done and how will it help?
The Dry needling technique is usually conducted by inserting a thin needle (very similar to an acupuncture needle) into the muscle’s trigger point. This is not as painful as it sounds! You will often experience a dull muscle twitch and a some short term minor ache or relaxation of the muscle.It works by relieving muscle tension and improving the muscle function and range of motion.
The benefits of dry needling at Narellan Foot Clinic can be experienced very soon after the treatment. It can be used as an individual treatment or in conjunction with other therapies. Prolotherapy and hyperdilation injections
Prolotherapy Injection
Using an injection of dextrose diluted to an appropriate level, prolotherapy injections relieve pain from muscle, nerve and joint pain.
Great for those with chronic joint, muscle and nerve pain.
Hyperdilation/High Volume Injection
Using local anaesthetic this injection reduces chronic muscle pain as well as releasing scar tissue. It also resets the pathway that reproduces chronic pain signals in your brain.
Great for those with chronic pain associated with muscle, tendon, ligament or nerves. It is also great in reducing pain from scar tissue and previous
surgery.
